Lisa Scalzo - CSTP, CTIS
Nine years ago I was blessed to have found an industry that requires me to travel and allows me to learn about so many different cities. I have been sharing those experiences and planning student group trips to destinations all over the world, planning trips for as few as 25 students to as many as 1200 (NO that is NOT a typo)!
Not having the opportunity to travel as a child has made me passionate about helping get as many students out of their hometown and get to see the amazing places this world has to offer. I am a firm believer of showing them the possibilities of the places they can go and things they can accomplish if they just go outside of the bubble they live in! I absolutely LOVE building experiences, creating excitement, and exposing students to the wonder of travel. Fortunately, now that I am an adult, I do get to go to many places I would have never had the opportunity to see. Ten years ago I was blessed to have found an industry that requires me to travel and allows me to learn about so many different cities. I have been sharing those experiences and planning student group trips to destinations all over the world, planning trips for as few as 25 students to as many as 1200 (NO that is NOT a typo)! I have been fortunate to have the experience of building a student travel division from the ground up. I believe in doing so, I have been able to expose even more students to the educational growth provided through travel. Working for member companies of SYTA and ABA, and completing my coursework required for both, I am a proud graduate of both organizations’ continued education opportunities; CSTP (Certified Student Travel Professional) and CTIS (Certified Travel Industry Specialist). Membership in both organizations continues to build partnerships with other members and helps to continue to bring the best products and services to my groups. SYTA is especially close to my heart, as the SYTA Youth Foundation is also committed to helping to provide travel opportunities to students/youth that may not have the opportunity due to social or economic hardships. I love building relationships with the people I work with...it is a long-term relationship not a “one trip and done for me.” My clients become close friends and family…that is very important to me. In my “free” time, you can find me on a softball field with my teenage daughter, watching her chase her dream to play softball at a Division 1 College. I also love to spend time with my three sons and four grandchildren as often as I can get back “home” to Northern Virginia.
