Memphis- Performance Tour
Educational opportunities, unique performances venues and transformative cultural experiences abound in Memphis, Tennessee, and these are just a few reasons why the Bluff City is the perfect student travel destination. No other place combines history, music and fun in such a soulful way. Plan a student travel trip to Memphis and show your kids an experience they’ll never forget.
Before there were boy bands, there were bands with men in them. Men who played instruments. Men who had something to say. Men who could move you with their voices and nothing else if they wanted to. Men, in other words, with soul. Anyone with an interest in music -- meaning anyone who plays an instrument, sings a note or enjoys listening -- should pay homage to these soul men.
Where to Play (Your Instruments):
If your kids like to rock out Memphis style, these out-of-the-box spots are just the ticket. They’ll be able to showcase their musical prowess while performing on some of the city’s biggest stages.
Handy Park – Handy Park is a popular outdoor stage right in the middle of the Beale Street Entertainment District. Students will get to play on the same stage that has seen performances from artists like George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic and Gov’t Mule.
Graceland – The home of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll boasts a huge outdoor plaza that offers the perfect opportunity for your students to play in front of large crowds. Almost 600,000 people visit Graceland every year.
Mud Island – The Mud Island Amphitheater is one of Memphis’ premiere outdoor performance venues. Bob Dylan, the Black Crowes, Maroon 5, Lenny Kravitz and the Beach Boys have all played there.
